How To Girl was started by myself and Eric Wyeth. We met working together on a local TV show as lackeys. We quickly developed a friendship out of having to lean on each other for comic relief (and sanity) in situations that were oftentimes tense. After a few months, I told Eric about an idea I had for a TV show and asked him if he would help me. Eric being the nicest person ever (!) agreed.
After figuring out you can't just send a video to Discovery Networks without them asking for it we were back to square one. Eric being on the cutting edge learned about this thing called “Podcasting”. He suggested we change up the format from 30 minute episodes to 5 minute videos and put it online in the winter of 2005 when the video iPod had just been released. Jump Cut to February 2006 and How To with Madeline was launched on a brand new website nobody had heard of, YouTube.
The website has evolved over the years into what you see today. Eric and I are still friends although we no longer get to work together as often as we would like we now live in different states.
